O'Neill is actively engaged in research aimed at identifying risk factors for injury that are unique to Irish soccer players, both male and female. She has presented preliminary research findings at the 2014 Irish Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine (FSEM) and the 2014 Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) International annual conferences.
